Imagine: #Twitter user exports her data and imports to #Mastodon or #Pleroma or #GNUsocial
Or, #Facebook user exports and imports in #Misskey or #Diaspora or #Hubzilla or #Friendica
Possible? See: https://github.com/google/data-transfer-project
Here's what I want to see, #IndieWeb and #Fediverse ( #GNUsocial #Hubzilla #Diaspora #Friendica #Mastodon ) interoperability.
Check it out, IndieWeb is simply awesome.
At this point in #Mastodon's public life, it is already clear that newbies in the #fediverse wants to create a #Diaspora-like walled-garden instead of federating with the larger #OStatus network.
Disconnecting from the federation or banning instances is not the solution to a problem. #GNUsocial #Friendica and #Hubzilla addressed these properly. Mastodon users should learn from their "elders".
Network federation isn't new. Let's be humble, shall we?
#Mastodon I remember someone asking for features we like from other #fediverse software.
One I like with #Friendica and #Hubzilla ( #Diaspora too?) is the ability to post in your local instance's public timeline only.
Forgot to mention, #Twidere could implement #Tusky's tab-style format too. (And fix the #GNUsocial connection/login while at it, in the latest versions.)
I haven't included #Diaspora because it's a mix of #socialnetwork and #microblogging
