Another interesting decentralized database project is !

They are not a cryptocurency project but nonetheless a useful project for future dapp developers 😃

Interesting. I need time to dwelve deeper.

However, when I read about "effective CA" in the context of distributed systems, I feel a bit unconfortable.

Even when it's Eric Brewer who says something like that...

The #CAPTheorem is #math, #EffectiveCA is #marketing.

@Shamar @alanz doesnt seem so markety to me, i tried to find the place where it said effective CA and only found "effectively CA", basically meaning that in operation with S3 it can fix availability issues.

@wolfi @alanz

Except that it cannot.

It's a matter of use cases and partitions probability, but if you have availability you can not have consistency.

And guess what? In case of conflict you loose #consistency, not #availability.

@Shamar @alanz i thought the whole point in cap theorem is that you can never have all three, but you can have have 2 of the three in whatever combinations, but maybe i just don't know enough about CAP theorem :) maybe ur right, but i would have to dig deeper to understand why its not possible

@wolfi @alanz

The whole point of the CAP theorem is that you cannot avoid partitions in a #distributed system.

You can either renounce to consistency to preserve availability or renounce to availability (shutting down the whole system on a partition) to preserve consistency.

@wolfi @Shamar @alanz Stll merkle-DAG though, so related.

Not that I'm complaining, it is an interesting project.
